It might be the smallest region in Italy but its gastronomic merits are recognised not only throughout the country but also beyond its mountainous Alps.
Valle d’Aosta, in northern Italy, is a top tourist destination in both summer and winter, with its landscapes, ski slopes, exclusive holiday resorts, luxury accommodation and typical local dishes.
And fortunately, among the classic products of the Aosta Valley, seafood restaurants on the slopes and high-street food, there’s also space for haute cuisine in this autonomous region.

Le Petit Restaurant
Inside the luxurious Bellevue Hotel & Spa in Cogne, the intimate Le Petit Restaurant, consisting of just four tables, offers a menu fusing mountain tradition with the main elements of the Mediterranean diet. Here chef Fabio Iacovone leads his brigade in continuous research and experimentation without ever forgetting tradition and uses of the highest quality ingredients. In the scenic Valle del Gran San Bernardo, more precisely in the municipal territory of Gignod, just head up the highway that leads from Aosta to the pass to discover the complex of characteristic buildings that make up La Clusaz. It’s also possible to stay here, but the restaurant is the real draw: in the two dining rooms, formerly frequented by travelers, under the large stone vaults, you can opt for one of two menus, one traditional and one seasonal, which allows classic cuisine to combine with pure experimentation.
